Medical Negligence more likely to affect the vulnerable?

Studies and surveys have recently shown that elderly patients are being let down by the NHS, in particular after they have undergone surgery. The detailed audit showed that pain management was often inadequate and that patients were unable to access specialist consultants or doctors.
This follows other recent studies which showed those with learning disabilities were also being let down by the NHS and not receiving the same standard of care afforded to less vulnerable patients.
With the government making drastic cuts across all sectors, one wonders if it will only be those who shout loudest who will receive adequate treatment. One can't help but wonder if all these cuts will simply lead to a rise in medical negligence claims across the board as more staff are put under pressure to maintain standards, but with fewer resources.
