A new bike rental scheme has taken off today in London. This scheme will allow members to pay a fee and they can then access bikes across the capital. So far, more than 12,000 people have signed up to the idea, although there are currently only 5,000 bicycles available at the docking stations! I expect the project will prove to be a success, and should encourage cycling in the capital.
However, the scheme will no doubt increase the number of inexperienced cyclists on the roads. I hope a campaign for road safety awareness will follow shortly so that an increase in cycling accidents can be avoided.
