HSE safety initiative targets small construction sites
October 04, 2010
Statistics released by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) show that two-thirds of all deaths on construction sites occur in the North West, as well as half of the serious injuries that lead to a work accident claim. As a result, HSE inspectors are visiting construction sites in the area to offer advice to workers on how to avoid making an accident at work claim and, consequently, avoid having to claim work accident compensation. The campaign focuses on construction sites as they are known to be the biggest cause of claim for work accident compensation, from asbestos claims, to an accident at work claim involving falling off scaffolding. Company owners are being encouraged to attend free health and safety awareness courses, in another effort to avoid a work accident claim.
