Government 'think tank' says blame motorcyclists for all crashes

As a personal injury solicitor I have dealt with many motorcycle accident claims and so I was somewhat amazed when I read that Government advisors proposed that motorcyclists would automatically be blamed for collisions with cyclists. The proposal is that fault for an accident should be assumed to lie with the most powerful vehicle in any crash, according to the Transport Department-funded group Cycling England. Cyclists would be blamed for collisions with pedestrians, while drivers and motorcyclists would automatically have to compensate either cyclists or pedestrians. Similar laws are apparently already in place in other European countries. However the Department for Transport has denied the proposal is being considered. The notion that any party should be automatically blamed doesn't make any sense - the fairer way to apportion blame is to treat each case on its own facts.
