Flexible working lowers stress levels

February 17, 2010

A report commissioned by the Cochrane Library has suggested that people who can choose their own working hours enjoy better mental and physical health. Those with flexible working patterns enjoy lower blood pressure, better heart rates, sleep better and are less stressed. The study of more than 16,000 people found that the key to improved health amongst the working population was workers, rather than employers, being able to choose their own hours. Under a 2009 extension of the Employment Rights Act parents in the UK with children who are under 16 have been able to apply for flexible working arrangements. Obviously here at Bolt Burdon Kemp we all enjoy the benefit of this already!
