Where to start ranting about the defence cuts? With the Gurkhas, who were marked out for reductions from the moment they were given equal(-ish) pay and pension arrangements, so ending the MoD’s amazing 150-year bargain? With the RAF, who provide intelligence services which we presumably don’t need any more? Or with the assumption that you can get more work from fewer people, just by doing more back-to-back deployments? They can’t limit the budget for military compensation claims, which are set by the courts: these cuts are going to mean greater expenditure there, not less.
