At long last Specialist Brain Injury Centre to open in Wales

Wales has long been completely overlooked for specialist brain injury services so news of its first specialist assessement and rehabilitation centre is very welcome.
The Brain Injury Rehabilition Trust (BIRT) has announced that following negotiations with Welsh authorities and in response to demand the centre will open in Wales in 2013. The purpose built centre will meet the needs of adualts with acquired brain injury from Wales and the surrounding areas. The cetnre will have 24 beds (including 4 bungalows) offering assessment and rehabilation services as well as continuing rehabilitation services for those with long term needs. It will support adults who have a range of complex cognitive, physical and/or emotional symptoms following a brain injury.
