Art therapy for veterans

We continue to see an increasing number of military compensation claims from personnel returning from overseas tours with mental health conditions. The charity Combat Stress is dedicated to providing support for veterans suffering from conditions such as depression, anxiety and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). One form of therapy offered by Combat Stress is proving particularly successful; art therapy. This encourages patients to explore their feelings and emotions symbolically through drawing and painting. It allows them to reformulate information and concerns. Veterans report surprise as the images that appear on the page often truly represent thoughts that have plagued them for years. We are very supportive of any treatment which can help bring some relief to those suffering from the traumatic after effects of war.
