£100,000 compensation for work accident claim

A nurse has been awarded more than £100,000 for her work accident claim after she injured her back in an accident whilst trying to lif t a morbidly obese patient. Linda Andrew had complained to her employers about lifting the 80 year old 140kg (22st) man but her concerns went unheeded . She therefore contacted a personal injury solicitor and pursued an accident at work claim. The High Court found Mrs Andrew's former employers; Surrey Primary Care Trust were liable as they could have provided more help with the manual handling task. She was therefore successful in her work accident claim.
