Solicitors support criminal injuries compensation appeal

January 02, 2009

Bolt Burdon Kemp’s specialist compensation claim solicitors also volunteer their time for Islington Law Centre’s ‘Law Works’ free advice service. They helped another client to victory on his appeal against the refusal of his application for an award by the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority. The client, who suffered facial injuries in an unprovoked street assault, made an application for compensation which was refused on the grounds that he had failed to co-operate with the police. Our compensation claim solicitors helped him to examine the police records and to prepare his evidence – it was found that the records had confused 2 entirely separate incidents. His witness evidence and a dossier of relevant documents were prepared to assist him with the appeal, and a detailed referral was made to the Free Representation Unit who provided an advocate for the hearing. We are happy to report that his appeal was successful and that an award of compensation was made.
