Safety training to tackle workplace claims
December 06, 2007
A new online training tool has been supplied to businesses in an effort to reduce the number of workplace accidents that occur.
HR organisation Croner has launched the tool after finding that many companies need to provide better training to their employees to ensure they are complying with legal requirements and not leaving themselves open to costly legal claims.
"With an average of 1.3 working days lost per employee each year due to workplace injury or ill health, it would seem that the sensible option for employers would be to get on board with a product like this to help re-enforce health and safety messages in the workplace," explained Claire Beresford, commercial manager at Croner.
The company estimates that as many as 36 million working days are lost to workplace injury or ill health every year, which means that companies face significant costs in trying to cover those workers - as well as the legal bills that can arise from workplace claims.
