Property scam solicitor still missing

December 21, 2007

A solicitor who went missing after failing to turn up in court to his own negligence trial, remains at large.

Michael Lynn, who practices in Ireland, is accused of taking out multiple mortgages in a series of property scams for his own enrichment - leaving debts of €80 million.

The Irish Independent speculated yesterday that the allegedly negligent solicitor might currently be in hiding in London.

According to the newspaper, a couple who were formerly clients of the solicitor have also been hit by a separate case from a Dublin bank over a €2 million loan on a multiple-mortgaged property.

John Mulkearns and Lorna Farrell have been charged in the Commercial court - and told the judge that they needed time to put in their replying affidavits.

Following Mr Lynn's abrupt departure from his trial, which was brought against him by the regulatory arm of the Law Society, the case was adjourned by a judge until next month.
