Sad news this week

It is has been very sad to read the London papers this week, with their news of the two cyclists that died within a day of each other. In what has become a predictable trend in cycling deaths, both victims were crushed by lorries. Ironically, yesterday Boris Johnson unveiled his "cycle safety action plan" which aimed to reduce the number of serious injuries to cyclists resulting from accidents with lorries. Unfortunately, the proposals brought news of the road safety budget being slashed by £10 million in the coming year.

No doubt many people will be scratching their heads at this logic. It is hard to believe that the "cycle friendly" mayor is not making the reduction of cycling accidents his first priority.
