Mr Borowski, 27, was a back seat passenger in an uninsured work colleague's car which crashed leaving him paralysed from the neck down. He suffered injuries to his spinal cord, a fractured spine and was left brain-damaged. A settlement was reached with the Motor Insurer's Bureau which compensates the victims of uninsured drivers. Newcastle High Court awarded £8.35m compensation to Mr Borowski which should pay for his long term care. This is one of the highest payouts made for this type of case and should hopefully set a precedent for future cases.
