MoD attempts to cut compensation to injured soldiers

As the MoD goes to the Court of Appeal today in an attempt to reduce compensation awarded to injured soldiers, the Government has been rightfully stung by criticism on all sides. The soldiers, serving their country and injured as a result, had successfully argued that complications caused by their initial injuries should give rise to a higher award. The Government say that soldiers should only be compensated for the original injury, and it's 'tough' if complications develop. These awards are not a bonus or a windfall - they are necessary to help the injured re-build their lives, re-train, and afford the care they may need. Coming at a time of growing concern at the lack of equipment for our troops in Afghanistan, is the Government out of touch? You bet!
