Jamie Oliver sued after chef was scalded

I am currently acting for a client who was injured whilst working for Jamie Oliver so when I read this story it immediately took my interest. Jamie Oliver's restaurant chain has just been fined £8,500 plus £3,910 costs after a chef was burned with hot oil when a colleague accidentally spilled the scorching liquid on her feet during a training day. She was in hospital for ten days and required skin grafts to her left foot. Before the accident she had not received proper health and safety training or a risk assessment. Council officials said the fine should be a "warning" to restaurants. It amazes me that such a big organisation has not taken more care to avoided these claims in the first place.
