Dog insurance a must

The Government is considering plans for legislation that will require every dog owner in the UK to take out third party insurance against their pet causing injury to a person. Part of the proposed changes to the Dangerous Dogs Act are aimed at tackling the growing problem of vicious animals being bred for use as weapons and making it a criminal offence for a dog owner to allow their animal to be "dangerously out of control". Currently owners are only breaking the law if their dog is out of control in a public place. The change would extend the law to private residences. Many of the attacks we have seen have been on small children, postal workers etc in front gardens, or in the private property itself. Personally I think this legislation should have been introduced some time ago to allow innocent people to have been compensated after being attacked by a dog.
