As a Personal Injury Solicitor I come across clients that have been injured in all sorts of ways, and so I was interested to read a recent news article that each year dog and cat bites comprise around 1% of A&E hospital visits. Having dealt with numerous claims involving dog bites myself, I was also interested to note that approximately 20% of all bite cases are considered to be 'severe infections' which are caused by bacteria in the animal's mouth and other infectious agents from a person's skin. Although this form of MRSA infection can be treated with medication like any other form of MRSA, doctors are being warned that when undertaking examinations of people with bite injuries to also be aware of the increasing risks of MRSA infections in such cases.
