CML concerned about fraud

The Council for Mortgage Lenders has stated their concerns "about the amount of fraud involving solicitors and the scale of professional negligence that has emerged in recent years". Reading about the CML's concerns about this makes me wonder how these people sleep at night. Solicitors are professionals who owe a high standard of care to their clients. If they don't do their job properly they risk being sued. Worse still, if they act fraudulently, they risk losing their livelihoods and reputation. These "professionals" are thankfully a minority, but they risk giving the majority a bad name. Trust can take a long time to build and a moment to destroy.
