Headway East London awareness campaign

Bolt Burdon Kemp are proud to announce that they are the first ever baton holders for Headway East London throughout 2011 / 2012. During this time we will raise money and awareness for this deserving brain injury charity. Marilene Antoni and Cheryl Abrahams have been heading up the baton challenge.

Headway East London is an independent charity that supports people whose lives have been affected by an acquired brain injury. Headway House is the headquarters of Headway East London which is a day centre, welcoming all those who have an acquired brain injury and acts as a home for the community, support services and fundraising activities.

We are specialist compensation solicitors who represent people with acquired brain injury following an accident which makes our close connection with Headway East London all the more valuable.

Headway Art Space is one of the charity’s support programmes which allow their members to be creative, work together and communicate with each other. We have shown our support for all the fantastic work at Headway House by purchasing a number of paintings produced by the members and placing them in our office.

Staff members have also been involved in raising money in various ways including a 5k run; a walkathon across 10 bridges in London; and a skydiving event,  from which alone the team managed to raise almost £10,000, beating their target of £9,000.

In December 2011 we will be hosting a drinks reception at our offices which will showcase the spectacular artwork creations produced by the members at Headway House.

Miriam Lantsbury, Chief Executive of Headway East London said “On behalf of everyone at Headway East London, I would like to express how delighted we are that so many people at BBK are taking up the baton challenge and getting behind the fundraising effort. All the money raised will go towards our work supporting people with brain injury and their families across North and East London; in these difficult economic times the need is increasing and more and more people are calling on us for support. I hope this year proves to be a successful and enjoyable partnership between the two organisations.”

Both Bolt Burdon Kemp and Headway East London believe that each person has something positive to offer to the community and continue to work together to help those suffering from a permanent brain injury.
