If you've been the innocent victim of an act of violence and have been physically or mentally injured you are entitled to make a claim for compensation. The person who assaulted you may not be worth suing, or you may not even know who they were, but you can apply for compensation under the Government scheme run by the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority - the "CICA".
