Joanna Chapman

Joanna ChapmanQualified in 1990. Member of the Law Society's Personal Injury Panel, the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (brain injury special interest group co-ordinator, multi-party actions special interest group member), Rehab UK South London Advisory Board, National Brain Injuries Association (Headway), UK Acquired Brain Injury Form (UKABIF), Children's Head Injury Trust (CHIT), Executive Committee member of the Association of Child Abuse Lawyers (ACAL).

Jo specialises in head injury claims and in acting for adult survivors of child abuse. In the head injury field she has successfully brought claims for a wide range of severity of injury, from relatively "mild" brain injury, where the effects on the injured person are very subtle, to the most severe catastrophic injuries. In the child abuse field she acts for adult survivors in both stand alone claims and in group actions against Defendants that include local authorities, Barnardos and other care homes, as well as against individuals She has successfully brought claims by prisoners and prison staff against the prison service and in one such case represented a client a who achieved the highest known settlement for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (M v The Home Office) following an assault in prison.

In her other life she helps put on concerts (aka arranging chairs and sweeping the floor) biased towards the cool end of folk/roots, world, country and blues at England's tiniest major venue, the bandroom.
