Suzanne Trask is a solicitor at Bolt Burdon Kemp specialising in clinical negligence and personal injury claims.
Suzanne achieved a first class LL.B Law degree at the University of Plymouth, before completing her studies in Bristol and moving to the South East.

Suzanne trained at Clarkson Wright & Jakes, a highly regarded firm in Kent. During her training she gained experience in high value commercial litigation and employment law, before focusing on personal injury and clinical negligence. Suzanne continued in this department after her qualification as a solicitor in 2005. Her work included cases involving employer’s liability, occupational stress and criminal injuries, as well as clinical negligence. She also wrote articles for various local business publications.

During her time at Clarkson Wright & Jakes, Suzanne was influential in establishing and maintaining strong relationships with several charities, to include Headway, the Spinal Injuries Association and Action against Medical Accidents (AvMA). She was a fundraising co-ordinator for the team in 2006, raising over £20,000 for the local branch of Headway under the Challenge Baton scheme.

In April 2008 Suzanne moved to Bolt Burdon Kemp, specializing in clinical negligence. She has particular experience of dealing with injuries of the utmost severity. Her cases include those involving brain injury, delay in diagnosis and misdiagnosis of serious conditions, obstetric claims and birth injury, spinal injury, and urological conditions. She is also experienced in dealing with claims involving fatalities and consequent inquests.

Suzanne also has a developing area of speciality in acting for sport professionals, both in relation to injuries sustained whilst participating in sport, and to the medical treatment subsequently received.

She has an interest in medicine, and achieved a distinction in a postgraduate diploma in Anatomy and Physiology. She is also an Associate member of the Royal Society of Medicine, and is also a qualified counsellor.

Suzanne also has an interest in human rights, and is a member of Amicus, an organization that assists lawyers acting for those sentenced to the death penalty in the United States.

She is a member of APIL (the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers), and an APIL accredited Litigator. She is co-ordinating the firm’s participation in the pilot of the APIL Multi-Track Code for personal injury claims with a value of over £250,000.

Suzanne regularly volunteers for the Spinal Injuries Association, and arranges fundraising events and volunteers for Headway, the brain injury association. Suzanne is a helpline advisor for the charity Action Against Medical Accidents (AvMA), having worked in the role since 2006.

Outside of work, Suzanne enjoys keeping fit, running several races a year for charity, cycling and tae kwon do.
Suzanne’s cases have included –

• A claim where a patient detained under the Mental Health Act was not adequately supervised, leading to the murder of a fellow patient. Compensation was recovered by the mother and son of the deceased.
• A claim against two GP’s for delay in diagnosis of diabetes, leaving the Claimant severely debilitated for a period of several years.
• A claim where the delay in carrying out a caesarean section led to a baby being deprived of oxygen for over ten minutes, leading to his eventual death at approximately five weeks of age.
