Greater London Hotspot for Uninsured Drivers

September 24, 2009

The Motor Insurers Bureau (MIB) has launched a new campaign warning drivers not to let their insurance cover lapse. They estimate that over 1.7m people drove without cover in 2008. Greater London had the highest number of uninsured drivers in the country with 13% of vehicles being uninsured. However new technology which automatically recognises number plates combined with information from the Motor Insurance Database leads to 500 uninsured vehicles being seized per day.
