Council halts abuse claim battle
June 15, 2009
Bolt Burdon Kemp claimed victory for their client Jake Pierce in his long running battle with Doncaster Council over allegations that he was abused by his parents as a child. He argued that Doncaster should not have returned him to the care of his abusive parents. In the first case of its kind to reach the courts, the Defendants lost on appeal to the Court of Appeal, although the case was due to go back to the trial judge to make a finding on limitation, or the delay in my client bringing his action. Instead, just days before the hearing, Donacaster threw in the towel. See the story as reported on the BBC web site.
