Companies prosecuted for exposing employees to Asbestos

Acetech Construction Limited in 2008 failed to carry out an adequate survey for asbestos on a boat it was dismantling. This would have highlighted the presence of asbestos-containing materials before employees began work on the boat at Grimsby dock. It was fined £3,400 plus £5,000 costs.

Eastern Regional Shopfitters Ltd of Cambridge has been fined £4,000 plus £3,215 in costs after it exposed its employees to Asbestos at the Arndale Centre in Manchester in 2009.

Greswolde Construction Ltd of Knowle, Somerset, failed to warn its employees that asbestos was present at Rokeby Primary School in Rugby while building an extension there last year. It was fined £1,000 plus £2,268 costs. More information about claiming work accident compensation.
