Not enough support for victims of child abuse

The NSPCC has estimated that there are 88,500 sex abuse victims across the UK. However, the Government does not do enough to help these victims. There is fewer than one support programme per 10,000 children, and even when therapy is available to young victims there could be a delay of up to a year on waiting lists. It is a tragedy that victims of abuse may have to wait so long for treatment, especially when therapy at an early stage is shown to be most effective in dealing with the effects of abuse.
