MoD is rightly urged to invest in men before expensive new kit. Marvellous new MERTs (Medical Emergency Response Teams) use the same staff, but they now have pre-determined roles; cheap, and save lives every day. It must have reduced compensation claims. Contrast the US Army body armour, now being bought for our troops. It’s expensive, light and effective. But I’ve heard it’s so effective it spreads the blast over the body and damages all your organs – not just the one that’s been hit.
