NHS to pay Millions for Negligent Births

I have just read about two girls who have, rightly, been awarded millions for their negligent births. Alice Joyce who was left permanently disabled, will today be awarded £5.6m compensation after a nine-year fight for justice. She was starved of oxygen during the final hour of the delivery, resulting in catastrophic brain injuries. The now 13 year old requires round the clock care. Similarly, last month, a 15 year old Rhiannon Hayman was awarded a compensation package worth around £6.5 million. Rhiannon, also suffered a severe lack of oxygen at birth. She is unable to walk unaided, talk or feed herself and will require 24-hour care and assistance for the rest of her life. Although money cannot change what has happened to the girls it can hopefully fund their complex needs for many years to come and ease the pressure of having to fund the very expensive care and treatment they will both need.
