British military advisers are currently developing an exciting project to ensure that the best equipment is created for the front line . They are working alongside scientists and engineers at the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory to test the Service’s kit and gadgets. Advisers are using their own experiences in the field to help design and build cutting edge equipment which will hopefully save lives.

One example of this is the adaptation of traditional machinery used to make Improvised Explosive Devices safe. IED's , which are often buried under the ground and therefore difficult to detect, are designed to incapacitate or destroy personnel and vehicles nearby. Engineers have now combined the normal operating system, ‘the Wheelbarrow’, with a commercial leaf blower to enable IED's to be discovered and exposed from under the earth. This is a job that is usually done by hand and is incredibly dangerous. As military compensation specialists, we are very pleased to see that this new device is already being used in Afghanistan to help save lives and prevent injury.
