An enquiry has been launched into abuse carried out by a former crewman on the Queen Mary 2 and Queen Elizabeth cruise liners over fears that he molested child passengers.

The inquiry into the cruise liners, owned by Cunard, opened in secret over six months ago following a tip off from parents alleging that their child had been assaulted. Police have since contacted parents across the UK over fears that many more victims will come forward.

The unnamed crewman is currently living in Wiltshire and has been questioned by police who removed photographic and computer equipment from his home.

If the allegations are proven and the crewman is convicted, the victims may have a claim for compensation against Cunard but for now, the precise number of victims is unknown.
